With two kids in the house and both of them in daycare, I was really expecting our savings to decrease. However, we have taken some huge steps to make sure that our savings has the ability to increase this year. I mentioned a little bit about our changes at the beginning of the year, but I will refresh your memory. Last year, Our focus was mortgage payoff. We didn’t focus as much on retirement savings or taking advantage of tax deferred accounts. This year, however, we have made a change in our plan. This change has allowed us to increase our savings by utilizing tax-deferred accounts.

The end of March and beginning of April have been pretty interesting for the Summit of Coin Household. Baseball season began the day I returned back to work. This season of the year, requires me to spend a minimum of 10 hours a day at work, plus we play our games on Saturdays.

Greetings from the sea! As I mentioned in my last article, my wife and I were preparing for a cruise! Well, the preparing is over and we are cruising! All I can see is the ocean. It is beautiful and breathtaking. Something that I have never experienced in my life. Sure, I like to travel, but I have never taken the opportunity to go on a cruise. Well, here I am and it gave me an idea. I am pretty lucky to be a teacher. I may not make as much as the next guy and I may work long hours every week, but there are times that the teacher life is pretty cool.
2019 Savings Goal Update #1
March finds my wife and I preparing for our cruise. We are going to celebrate 5 years of marriage approximately 9 months late. Thus, it’s really closer to a celebration of 6 years of marriage. I guess, in the end it really doesn’t matter what we call it, all that matters is that we are taking some time off to celebrate our relationship with each other.
